December Meeting Minutes

The December 2017 meeting of the HPMS was called to order at 7:00 P.M. on 4 December 2017.  There were 11 attendees.

Old Business

There has been no reply from the Phoenix Arizona chapter of IMPS regarding our request for specific categories to sponsor for trophy packages as part of the 2018 IPMS national convention.  As it stands as of now our request for specific categories is on record.

There was continued discussion regarding a group build for the 2019 IPMS national convention that is going to be held in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  The general view was that while 2019 may seem like long way away we should make a decision now on a subject area.  There were numerous ideas brought to the floor  with various criteria attached.  This will be discussed in detail in a further E-mail to be sent out.

The official contest notice has been approved and posted to the calendar on the IPMS/USA website and an E-mail was sent out by Skip reflecting this.

The election of chapter officers was completed and Andy Brezinski is our chapter president with Tom Clark as vice president.

New Business

Through Dan the chapter was contacted by a group based in California.  The name of this function is Help Heal Veterans: Therapeutic Craft Kits.  Based on their correspondence they obtain and then distribute to various organizations that deal with veterans with physical injuries and psychological problems caused by PTSD, TBI, and related problems.  They are asking for model kits are not opened, still in the clear wrapping.  The decision was made to collect some kits to send to this function. The idea was brought forward to buy some kits out of the chapter funds.  After further discussion it was decided to have the January swap meeting and see if any kits could be obtained from that, further fleshing out of the donation to the function be decided after that.

    The annual HPM

S dinner will be on 5 January, 2018 with start time at 6:30 P.M.  The location is El Coyote Mexican Restaurant across from Bridge Street.

The January 2018 meeting will be our annual swap meeting and will be on 8 January.  This is the second Monday of the month as the first Monday of January is New Years Day.  The Build Night will be on 15 January, 2018 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

A Last Note

The government disposes of excess material by various means with some items going to state, county, and municipal agencies.  The attached picture is of a Carrier, Cargo, Fully Tracked, M-548 that was obtained by state forest service and modified for fire fighting functions.  AFV Club makes a 1/35th scale model of the M-548.  Now, should some armor modeler be able to obtain further photos of this vehicle and even obtain the plans that were accomplished to modify this M-548 this would make for an interesting model.  Even better take the modified and completed model show/contest and wait for person to say that a M-548 like that never existed.  You catch my drift!
